Unpacking Trust

The Logical Wheel: Consistency

CONSISTENCY: They think I operate with constancy and predictability.

We identified Consistency as a Key Trait because we see that when people are inconsistent and unpredictable it’s hard to really trust them. Obviously, there is constancy that builds trust, like being on time versus always being late. People who are always late may be demonstrating constancy but on the wrong side of building trust. No one wants to hear a statement like, “You can always trust him or her to be late!” Some of constancy is related to habits. As it relates to trust, repetitive good habits usually build trust. Perhaps even more volatile than constancy is predictability. When a person is unpredictable it is very difficult to build trust.
